This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom, +5 more countries.
• Develop and sustain internal and developer-oriented APIs and services that enhance the Web App and developer experience.
• Create and advance public API features, including task types, validation, routing, and WebSocket/REST functionality.
• Take ownership of the Admin API and panel, functioning as an internal platform.
• Manage usage, billing, and customer data, including integration with Stripe, to guarantee accuracy and dependability.
• Investigate and resolve production issues and security vulnerabilities impacting the Web App and APIs.
• Write, test, and review clean and maintainable code.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering teams to clarify requirements, identify dependencies, and devise technical solutions.
• Contribute to technical decisions and work across frontend and backend boundaries when necessary.
• Collaborate with the broader Backend team to share expertise and work on common systems.
• Extensive experience in building backend systems and APIs.
• Proficient programming skills in one or more backend languages, with the ability to learn and adapt to new languages and technologies efficiently.
• Experience in developing reliable, maintainable, and thoroughly tested production systems.
• Solid understanding of API design, asynchronous workloads, and concepts related to distributed systems.
• Strong engineering principles in security, reliability, and performance.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across Engineering, Product, and Design teams.
• Demonstrated ownership and autonomy, with sound judgment on when to engage others.
• Comfortable utilizing AI-assisted development tools and agents while upholding code quality, security, and correctness.
• Preferred experience with PHP, Symfony, and/or Doctrine.
• Experience with WebSockets is a plus.
• Background in creating public APIs or developer-facing products is preferred.
• Familiarity with usage-based billing, credits, or financial data is advantageous.
• Preferred experience in contributing to architectural decisions and mentoring fellow engineers.
