Senior Software Engineer – Rails, Next.js, AWS GovCloud

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.

📋 Description

• Develop features from inception to completion utilizing our Rails/PostgreSQL backend, React and Next.js frontends, along with AWS GovCloud infrastructure.

• Collaborate directly with a small, experienced team and write production-level code on a daily basis.

• Make significant contributions to architecture, tooling, and our deployment processes.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in developing production web applications, including a minimum of 3 years working with Ruby on Rails.

• Proficient frontend expertise in React, Next.js, or both.

• Deep understanding of databases: including query plans, indexing, transactions, and migrations on live systems.

• Experience with AWS in production environments (experience in any region is acceptable; GovCloud experience is advantageous but not essential).

• Capable of debugging throughout the entire stack — including frontend network issues, backend N+1 problems, container networking, and IAM.

• Comfortable using AI coding tools as an enhancement and able to articulate the rationale behind every decision they assist with.

• Excellent written communication skills — our team operates asynchronously, with decisions documented in tickets and pull requests.
