Senior Software Engineer – Postgres

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design and develop backend services that manage and orchestrate database clusters within ClickHouse Cloud.

• Enhance our platform control plane, which is built using Ruby, Go, and TypeScript, to incorporate new Postgres functionalities.

• Contribute to PostgreSQL extensions and data plane agents developed in C, C++, or Rust.

• Support automation and tools that streamline cluster provisioning, scaling, and lifecycle management.

• Collaborate with infrastructure, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), and product teams to ensure excellence in operations, performance, and reliability.

• Create APIs and integrations to present new Postgres features to customers and internal systems.

• Enhance observability, deployment safety, and debugging processes for database services.

• Engage in design discussions, code reviews, and participate in on-call rotations, contributing to the overall reliability and speed of the team.

• Work autonomously by identifying opportunities, executing plans, and delivering significant impact.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience: Over 6 years in software engineering, preferably with a background in building or managing database or cloud platform systems.

• Postgres Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of Postgres, including configuration, extensions, operations, and performance optimization.

• Technical Skills:

• Proficient programming experience in one or more of Ruby, Go, Rust, C, or Python, with a willingness to work across different languages.

• Understanding of cloud infrastructure, APIs, and automation tools such as Terraform, Kubernetes, and CI/CD.

• Knowledge of distributed systems, data replication, and service orchestration patterns.

• Mindset: Pragmatic, detail-oriented, and comfortable with both new development and operational responsibilities.

• Flexibility: Willing to assist in various areas — from backend APIs and platform automation to Postgres internals and debugging.

• Collaboration: Excellent communicator who effectively works across teams in a dynamic, cross-functional setting.

• Ownership: You possess a founder’s mindset — taking initiative, acting swiftly, and caring deeply about results.
