Senior Software Engineer – Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Make informed, high-quality decisions based on data and experience regarding the development of our current and future production platform, and then implement the outcomes.

• Take ownership of and develop the processes for testing, building, and deploying code within a high-scale PaaS environment.

• Collaborate with teams across the organization to design production systems, establish standards, and make technological choices for both new and existing products, ensuring seamless integration.

• Achieve results - we regularly “change the wheels on the bus while it’s moving” in a reliable, predictable, and safe manner.

• Be a leader in shaping how the Platform Engineering team collaborates.

• Join a small yet expanding team focused on developing the Platform/Reliability practice for the organization – this position reports directly to the VP of Reliability.

• Participate actively in decision-making regarding our projects and the methodologies we employ to complete them. Make commitments and uphold them.

• Develop and maintain thorough internal documentation for systems and processes to ensure clarity and ease of access.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in the design and implementation of Non-Abstract Systems.

• High proficiency in Python and Golang.

• Significant experience with Kubernetes (CKA or equivalent or higher).

• Familiarity with observability principles and technologies, including the definition and tracking of SLIs/SLOs.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience working within a globally distributed delivery team.

• A strong passion for reliability and operational excellence, with a low tolerance for unnecessary toil.

• Ability to accurately estimate work scope and coordinate with stakeholders to identify risks for successful project delivery.

• Knowledge of software development best practices, including code review, testing, CI/CD, version control, automation, and debugging.

• A proactive mindset for identifying and resolving issues, emphasizing ownership and accountability.
