Senior Software Engineer – Patient Matching

Posted Jun 21

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Hawaii.

📋 Description

• We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to become part of Rula’s Patient Matching team.

• This team is dedicated to making a significant impact throughout the patient journey.

• Our mission is not merely to assist patients in finding *any* provider, but to connect them with the *right* provider: one they trust, feel comfortable with, and wish to continue their care with.

• In practice, this involves developing and enhancing the systems that support provider search, ranking, availability, eligibility, and booking experiences.

• As a Senior Engineer, you will be instrumental in defining this path by introducing clarity amid uncertainty, designing resilient systems, and delivering software that directly influences patients' care experiences.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of professional software development experience, showcasing a successful history of creating and scaling web applications in a production setting.

• Extensive knowledge of contemporary full-stack technologies—preferably TypeScript, React, and Node.js—along with a solid understanding of functional and object-oriented programming.

• Skill in utilizing AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot) to boost delivery speed, automate repetitive tasks, and improve code quality.

• Proven capability to design and execute complex, distributed systems that are scalable, maintainable, and secure.

• Demonstrated experience in leading high-stakes technical projects from inception to completion, with the ability to navigate trade-offs and align various stakeholders.

• A commitment to cultivating a high-performing engineering culture through code reviews, technical documentation, and mentoring of junior engineers.

🏝️ Benefits

• Fully remote work environment: Flexible working hours to promote a healthy work-life balance, allowing you to fulfill both professional and personal responsibilities (must reside in the United States; currently not hiring in Hawaii).

• Competitive compensation and benefits: Complete transparency of pay ranges regardless of your location within the United States.

• Comprehensive health coverage: Medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and FSA/HSA plans.

• Access to a 401(k) plan: Begin saving for your future.

• Generous leave policies: Including two company-wide shutdown weeks each year for self-care (for most employees).

• Paid parental leave: Available for all parents, including biological, adoptive, and foster parents.

• Employee Assistance Program (EAP): Resources to support your mental and physical well-being.

• New hire home office stipend: Equip your workspace for success.

• Quarterly department stipend: Engage in fun team-building activities or in-person gatherings.

• Wellness events and lunch & learns: Participate in a variety of engaging topics.

• Community and employee resource groups: Join initiatives that celebrate employee identities and lived experiences, fostering a sense of community and belonging for all.
