This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Costa Rica.
• Take the lead in porting platforms and developing BSP for switch ASIC platforms, which includes hardware bring-up, driver integration, and adaptations specific to the platform.
• Integrate and validate ASIC drivers, manage optics/transceivers, oversee thermal/power management, and handle BMC/baseboard interfaces.
• Create platform abstractions and implementations that support SONiC and FBOSS architectures.
• Design and implement components for both control plane and data plane tailored for SONiC and FBOSS.
• Develop and sustain platform services and daemons focused on hardware monitoring, configuration, and management.
• Work in collaboration with the SAI/SDK team to integrate the switch abstraction layer with SONiC and FBOSS.
• Construct and maintain testing frameworks, automation, and CI/CD pipelines for the validation of the NOS platform.
• Compose thorough unit and integration tests.
• Analyze and optimize the performance of NOS for latency, throughput, and resource utilization.
• Engage with the open-source communities of SONiC and FBOSS, contributing enhancements.
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and systems teams to troubleshoot integration challenges and define platform requirements.
• Utilize AI coding assistants and emerging tools to enhance development speed and code quality.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 7 to 10 years of experience in software engineering.
• Strong expertise in C/C++ and Python.
• Experience with Linux systems programming and networking stack.
• Familiarity with switch/networking hardware or experience in network operating system development.
• Excellent debugging and problem-solving abilities for complex hardware/software integration challenges.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• A commitment to AI-first development practices and ongoing learning of new AI tools.
• Experience in SONiC platform development is highly preferred.
• Experience with FBOSS is strongly desirable.
• Background in Linux kernel and driver development.
• Experience with network protocol implementation, including L2/L3 switching, routing, BGP, and OSPF.
• Familiarity with switch ASIC/SDK integration.
• Experience with platform services and daemons.
• Understanding of hardware/ASIC architecture.
• Experience with performance optimization and profiling using tools like perf, gprof, valgrind, or similar.
• A history of contributions to open-source projects.
• Experience in technical leadership and mentoring.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or Cursor.
• Knowledge of test automation frameworks and CI/CD systems.
• Experience with platform bring-up, BSP development, or embedded Linux systems.
