
Senior Software Engineer β Middleware & Integration

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
β’ Contribute to the architecture, design, and technical decision-making for our Node.js backend services, Contentful CMS integrations, and AWS cloud infrastructure.
β’ Design, construct, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance APIs.
β’ Enhance CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, monitoring, observability, and system reliability.
β’ Ensure adherence to security, governance, and best practices for cloud infrastructure within AWS.
β’ Establish and uphold engineering standards, best practices, and scalable design patterns.
β’ Offer technical mentorship, supervision, and performance guidance to engineers.
β’ Collaborate with product, design, and business stakeholders to convert requirements into technical solutions.
β’ Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
β’ Over 7 years of software engineering experience, including architectural roles.
β’ Exceptional collaboration, communication, and cross-functional partnership abilities.
β’ Proficiency in programming languages such as JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, and PHP.
β’ Strong experience with Node.js backend, preferably using NestJS.
β’ Experience in designing and consuming APIs and distributed or microservices-based architectures.
β’ Familiarity with JWT / OIDC authentication (Auth0 or similar), passport-jwt / JWKS patterns.
β’ Proven experience with both relational (SQL) and NoSQL databases β capable of designing schemas, optimizing queries, managing multi-environment deployments/backups/scaling, with hands-on operational experience in MongoDB (replication, sharding, performance tuning) preferred.
β’ Experience with Docker and container orchestration on AWS ECS (task definitions, logging, ECR).
β’ Knowledge of AWS core services: Amplify, API Gateway, ALB/NLB, S3, EFS, CloudWatch, X-Ray, IAM, VPC/VPC endpoints.
β’ Experience in building and maintaining automation within cloud-native environments using IaC frameworks (Terraform + Terragrunt).
β’ Proficient in CI/CD with GitHub Actions and GitHub OIDC for secure AWS deployments.
β’ Observability and operational experience with logs/metrics/alarms, distributed tracing, and production troubleshooting.
β’ Knowledge of security best practices, including IAM least-privilege, private S3 patterns, and secrets management.
β’ Testing and quality experience, including unit/integration (Jest), e2e, linting/formatting.
β’ Experience integrating headless CMS platforms with modern front-end frameworks.
