This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Formulate the Strategy: Spearhead the creation of toolpath algorithms that function as the foundational engine for Dandy’s innovative dental lab automation.
• Multi-Modal Manufacturing: Develop workflows for hybrid production—such as 3D printing combined with injection molding, or producing 3D printed components followed by high-precision polishing or milling.
• Robotic Control: Innovate advanced robotic control systems (6DoF) to automate intricate tasks like polishing and finishing metal and acrylic partials.
• Bridging Software & Hardware: Investigate and apply toolpath simulation and collision avoidance algorithms to guarantee "right-first-time" manufacturing.
• Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate across engineering and operations to transform theoretical robotics into production-ready applications.
• Problem Solving: Address significant, high-impact manufacturing challenges that currently hinder global scalability.
• Software Engineer / CS Background: You are fundamentally a software engineer, capable of writing production-quality, high-performance code in C++, Python, or other programming languages.
• Toolpath & CNC Expertise: Extensive, practical experience with 5-axis CNC or 6DoF robotic integration. You have progressed beyond theory and have witnessed your code operating machines in real-world scenarios.
• Computational Geometry: Strong understanding of essential 3D concepts, mesh processing, and algorithms (WASM, WebGPU, or C++ libraries such as CGAL/Open CASCADE).
• Simulation Mastery: Proficient in toolpath simulation, kinematics, and robotic path planning.
• Problem Solver: Possess a "0 to 1" mindset. You flourish in startup settings and relish defining the roadmap instead of merely following one.
• Strong Communicator: Capable of articulating technical risks and trade-offs to stakeholders while executing a high-level business strategy.
• Open to Travel: Willingness to travel frequently (up to 30%), balancing on-site project requirements at our locations in Salt Lake City, Dallas, and Indianapolis.
