Senior Software Engineer II

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Create and enhance IAM foundations for AI Agents, focusing on agent identity, permission guardrails, and enterprise-level audit systems.

• Develop and implement authentication and authorization systems that are dependable, adhere to standards, and perform efficiently for millions of users worldwide.

• Suggest and execute technical solutions, oversee system architecture, and ensure seamless integration of features across the entire stack (frontend, backend, databases, APIs, AI agents).

• Collaborate with Infrastructure, Security, Compliance, and Product Engineering teams to address intricate, cross-functional risk and governance issues.

• Mentor and support engineers within the team through code reviews, design discussions, and career advancement initiatives.

• Contribute to fostering a culture that promotes inclusivity, collaboration, and support, enabling all Samsara employees to flourish.

• Advocate for and exemplify Samsara’s cultural principles as we expand globally and establish new offices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 6 years of experience in developing and operating production software utilizing contemporary engineering methodologies.

• In-depth knowledge of cloud security, IAM systems, threat models, and their corresponding mitigations.

• Solid programming skills in languages such as Java, Python, or Golang.

• Proven experience in designing and managing highly reliable, scalable distributed systems.

• Background in building security-sensitive or identity-related systems in a production environment.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent professional experience.

• Excellent communication abilities and the capacity to influence others without direct authority.
