Senior Software Engineer – Full Stack

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona.

• You will take ownership of significant, impactful areas of the platform from start to finish — not merely contributing to them.

• Specifically, you can look forward to:

• Managing the performance and scalability of our data layer as we integrate larger and more complex organizations — focusing on indexing, query optimization, read replicas, partitioning, and connection pooling — ensuring that onboarding and daily usage remain fast and reliable even at enterprise scale.

• Overseeing our asynchronous and background-processing infrastructure (e.g., Celery), ensuring it remains healthy, observable, and capable of handling increasing data volumes.

• Designing, building, and launching brand-new features that drive revenue across the entire stack — from messaging and bulk-sending functionalities to enhanced reporting, analytics, and email experiences.

• Assisting in reinforcing and advancing our transition to a server-side, HTMX-based frontend, enhancing both developer velocity and front-end reliability.

• Creating, developing, and sustaining scalable web applications utilized by nonprofit organizations globally.

• Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to comprehend user needs and translate them into technical solutions.

• Writing clean, testable, and efficient code for both frontend and backend.

• Contributing to architectural discussions and guiding technical decision-making across the platform.

• Engaging in code reviews and fostering a culture of learning and improvement.

• Taking responsibility for the reliability, performance, and observability of the systems you work on — ensuring they are well-instrumented, setting meaningful alerts, and treating production health as a primary focus of your work.

• Offering thoughtful feedback on technology choices as we assess changes across our stack.

• Promoting a culture of experimentation, iteration, and continuous delivery.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 6 years of experience in building modern web applications, with substantial time spent operating and scaling them in production.

• Proficiency in Python and frameworks such as Django (or similar).

• Practical experience with AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, etc.) as part of your regular development workflow.

• Experience in operating cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and using infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform).

• Familiarity with JavaScript/TypeScript and frontend frameworks like React or Vue.

• Strong understanding of relational databases such as PostgreSQL — not only querying them but also tuning them: including indexing, query optimization, and scaling strategies (read replicas, partitioning, connection pooling, etc.).

• Experience integrating with RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs.

• Solid fundamentals in DevOps: including CI/CD pipelines, containerization, infrastructure monitoring, and hands-on experience scaling applications under real load.

• Comfort with observability tools (metrics, logging, tracing, alerting) and a tendency to use them for debugging and preventing production issues.

• A passion for creating quality products that delight users and address real problems.
