Senior Software Engineer, Full-Stack

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Lead the architecture, design, and execution of new features, utilizing Python and TypeScript.

• Guide strategic architectural choices, foster alignment, and enhance applications for optimal performance, scalability, and accessibility.

• Employ top-notch software development practices (such as unit tests, integration tests, performance tests, monitoring, and comprehensive functional specifications and test plans) to ensure that RapidSOS' products are reliable and resilient.

• Identify opportunities to evaluate and improve existing applications, including code refactoring and technology upgrades.

• Work collaboratively in an agile setting with stakeholders from Engineering, Design, GTM, and Product to craft solutions for RapidSOS products.

• Utilize advanced AI development tools (like Claude Code, Cursor, or similar) to expedite delivery and enhance code quality.

• Engage actively in code reviews and standups, sharing insights, advocating for best practices, and contributing to the ongoing enhancement of team processes.

• Take ownership of significant components of our platform, make an impact, and grow alongside the company.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional backend or full-stack engineering experience with substantial expertise in Python and proficiency in React & TypeScript.

• Experience in integrating with RESTful APIs and delivering comprehensive end-to-end solutions within an AWS environment.

• Familiarity with relational and non-relational databases as well as messaging systems (RabbitMQ, Kafka, AWS SQS / SNS).

• Ideally has experience in developing AI-driven features or leveraging AI tools to accelerate development, showing initiative in utilizing emerging technologies.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; a collaborative team player with a positive demeanor.

• Highly self-motivated with the ability to adapt and learn swiftly in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating a strong sense of ownership.

• Strong command of coding best practices – capable of writing clean, maintainable, and testable code.

• Customer-focused mindset; deeply committed to delivering solutions that empower and satisfy customers while achieving product objectives.

• Proven problem-solving skills – adept at troubleshooting issues and debugging a large codebase.

• Willingness to collaborate in person a few times each quarter, or as necessary.
