This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Play a crucial role in establishing team objectives, ensuring that proposed tasks align with our goals and guiding prioritization to effectively achieve them.
• Design and execute intricate technical solutions that align with our strategic vision, influencing policies and standards throughout the broader engineering team.
• Assume responsibility for technical decisions within your squad, showcasing proficiency across various technologies.
• Oversee significant technical features from conception to completion, making informed trade-offs between advancement and perfection.
• Offer technical guidance to your team, proactively addressing debt and minimizing complexity in our services and procedures.
• Cultivate a comprehensive understanding of our multi-service business model, leading conversations on how your team's efforts contribute to the overall company strategy.
• Instill our culture in others and mentor engineers through pairing and code reviews, encouraging collaboration where every voice is valued.
• Lead intricate projects and explore new territories, effectively managing pressure to propel the team forward.
• Experience with Go is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Demonstrated expertise with Postgres, Kafka, and Kubernetes.
• Extensive experience in building distributed systems, including concurrency and event-driven architectures.
• A solid grasp of system resilience, observability, uptime, SLAs, and progressive degradation.
• Capability to deliver comprehensive solutions, from design through development, deployment, and ongoing support.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools, Terraform, and modern cloud workflows.
• Knowledge of Kafka and database migrations (e.g., CockroachDB to RDS) is a plus.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to excel in an agile, iterative setting while continuously delivering feature enhancements.
• Experience in mentoring mid-level engineers and exemplifying engineering best practices.
• Comfort in working within autonomous, product-focused teams.
