Senior Software Engineer – DevX

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate across Reddit Engineering to identify developer requirements, swiftly create prototypes, and refine solutions based on user feedback.

• Develop and construct backend systems, APIs, infrastructure, and platform functionalities that enhance developer workflows throughout Reddit.

• Create scalable and dependable systems that support both AI-driven developer workflows and the essential non-AI systems utilized by engineers daily.

• Spearhead significant projects within Reddit’s developer tooling ecosystem by coding, reviewing design documents, aligning stakeholders, and making practical technical decisions.

• Develop tools and integrations that link developer workflows with Reddit’s established infrastructure, CI/CD, security, source control, deployment, and operational systems.

• Design and implement sustainable APIs, services, libraries, and platforms that facilitate internal developer tooling at scale.

• Enhance the team’s tools, processes, and best practices while elevating standards for reliability, usability, scalability, and maintainability.

• Guide engineers and contribute to a roadmap that accurately reflects developers' needs and provides significant enhancements to Reddit’s engineering organization.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of hands-on, post-graduate, non-internship professional software development experience, with backend, infrastructure, or platform engineering as a primary focus.

• At least 3 years of industry experience in large-scale distributed systems, including the development and enhancement of highly scalable and reliable services.

• Strong expertise in Go, with substantial production experience in Go-based systems.

• Proven experience in designing and implementing maintainable APIs using technologies such as GraphQL, REST, HTTP, or gRPC.

• Experience in building platforms, developer tools, libraries, frameworks, or internal systems utilized by other engineers.

• Familiarity with infrastructure, Kubernetes, cloud providers, or other systems that facilitate modern software development and delivery.

• Practical experience employing AI-driven developer tools and workflows, with an inquisitive mindset regarding how these tools can significantly enhance developer productivity.

• A history of leading large, complex, high-impact projects that necessitate cross-team collaboration, technical insight, stakeholder alignment, and clear ownership from problem identification to delivery.

• A user-centered approach, demonstrating strong empathy for internal engineering users with an emphasis on usability, reliability, scalability, and quality.

• Exceptional communication skills, capable of influencing technical direction and managing intricate requirements across both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Experience in mentoring engineers, elevating the technical standards, and assisting teams in making practical trade-offs.

• A self-motivated, action-oriented demeanor. Comfortable operating amidst uncertainty, learning rapidly, and propelling work forward even when the path is not entirely clear.
