This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.
• Data Architecture: Develop, design, and implement scalable, secure, and efficient data solutions tailored to the organization's requirements.
• Data Modeling: Create and sustain both logical and physical data models to fulfill business intelligence, analytics, and reporting needs.
• Pipeline Engineering: Design, construct, and enhance ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and data pipelines to guarantee smooth and effective data flow from various sources.
• Data Integration: Consolidate various data sources, including APIs, databases, and third-party information, into a cohesive data platform.
• Performance Optimization: Oversee and enhance the performance of data systems and pipelines to ensure minimal latency and maximum throughput.
• Data Quality and Governance: Establish data quality checks, validation procedures, and governance frameworks to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
• Collaboration: Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to comprehend data requirements and provide solutions that meet their needs.
• Documentation: Keep thorough documentation of data architectures, models, and pipelines for ongoing maintenance and knowledge transfer.
• Training: Collaborate effectively with teammates and provide training in data engineering best practices.
• Technical Influence/Leadership: Suggest policy modifications and set department-wide procedures. Utilize extensive knowledge and experience to tackle complex issues.
• Monitor and manage the production environment to deliver data within established SLAs.
• 5+ years of experience in building, maintaining, and orchestrating scalable data pipelines.
• 3+ years of experience as a data engineer, developing or maintaining integrations with software such as Airflow or any Python-based data pipeline codebase.
• Proven experience applying a variety of integration patterns for different use cases.
• Background in backend software development to contribute to distributed computing development and data technologies, with extensive experience across systems, contexts, and concepts.
• Experience in implementing data pipelines and enhancing the performance of ETL processes and associated SQL queries.
• Proficiency in data modeling for both OLTP and OLAP applications.
• Familiarity with Cloud platforms such as Amazon AWS.
• Knowledge of workflow management tools (Airflow preferred).
• Familiarity with cloud-based data warehouses (Amazon Redshift preferred).
• Outstanding problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
• Experience handling sensitive data, such as PHI/PII, and adherence to security best practices.
• Understanding of data governance practices and principles.
