Senior Software Engineer, Customer Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and enhance customer-oriented backend services and public APIs by comprehending how various Chainguard products and customer segments utilize shared platform features, ensuring optimal functionality for all users.

• Take full ownership of features from inception to implementation, including rollout and subsequent iterations, collaborating closely with Product Management and the Experience (front-end) team.

• Produce technical design documentation and confidently drive your own design initiatives with clarity.

• Contribute to a product-focused roadmap with tangible deadlines and clear objectives, assisting the team in prioritizing trade-offs and shipping iteratively instead of waiting for the “perfect” solution.

⛳️ Requirements

• Significant backend engineering experience with 5+ years of developing production services and APIs within a modern cloud environment.

• Proficiency in Go (Golang) or a strong willingness to learn quickly — our codebase is entirely in Go, and we expect you to become proficient rapidly.

• Experience in designing, implementing, and refining public APIs that are utilized both externally and internally across various products or services. You should be able to discuss topics such as versioning, backward compatibility, authentication, and usability based on real-world experiences.

• Familiarity with microservices and cloud-native architectures, including containers and Kubernetes, along with the ability to build services that are observable and resilient in production environments.

• Exceptional communication and teamwork skills, enabling effective collaboration with PMs, designers, and engineers across diverse product lines.

• Demonstrated ability to excel in a remote, startup setting: A genuine enthusiasm for a fast-paced, high-intensity, “ship it” culture where you are self-motivated, comfortable with uncertainty, and work alongside individuals who will inspire your growth as a developer.

• Additionally, we would appreciate it if you have:

• Experience in building platform or shared services that span multiple products or customer interactions.

• Knowledge of the cloud-native ecosystem, containers, or security, or experience with tools in the broader CNCF space.

• Significant contributions to open-source projects, particularly as a maintainer or regular contributor in relevant areas.
