Senior Software Engineer, Compute Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create and implement software solutions in Go to enhance the availability, scalability, and latency of Reddit’s computational infrastructure.

• Develop Kubernetes controllers and operators to automate the management of clusters, scheduling workloads, and reconciling complex system states.

• Build essential tools and SDKs that formalize network configurations, managed services, and compute capacity tracking across a multi-region fleet.

• Improve intra-cluster performance by developing reactive schedulers and identifying node-level characteristics to enhance availability.

• Collaborate with various teams within the organization to provide technical insights and automate key development workflows and infrastructure operations.

• Participate in an on-call rotation (approximately one week every 8-9 weeks) to maintain the stability of our globally scaled systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 4 years of experience in developing internet-scale software, with a strong emphasis on infrastructure and distributed systems.

• Proficient in Go, with a proven history of building and managing Kubernetes services at scale.

• An expert in Linux internals, possessing a solid understanding of multi-tenancy mechanisms such as cgroups and namespaces.

• A contributor to the open-source community, preferably in the infrastructure or CNCF sectors.

• A self-motivated individual capable of diagnosing complex, cross-system issues and independently managing large projects.

• An excellent communicator who excels in a collaborative, service-oriented atmosphere.
