This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop and enhance product features that increase accessibility to Upstart’s Auto Secured Personal Loan offering and drive growth in originations.
• Create and implement improvements to customer-facing funnels, eligibility criteria, and workflow automation that enhance borrower experience and operational effectiveness.
• Collaborate with product, operations, risk, and engineering teams to assess trade-offs between customer experience, risk management, complexity, and market speed.
• Design robust, scalable engineering solutions that provide leverage for the future expansion of secured lending products.
• Influence the team’s technical direction by identifying implementation risks, enhancing execution standards, and clearly communicating progress and decisions.
• Ensure high-quality delivery in a regulated environment through careful system design, testing, observability, and cross-functional collaboration.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience, along with 4+ years of software engineering experience.
• Proven experience in designing, building, testing, and deploying production software systems.
• Background in developing customer-facing product features, platform capabilities, or backend services within a production setting.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional partners such as product management, design, analytics, operations, legal, or compliance.
• Demonstrated ability to make technical trade-offs balancing system reliability, maintainability, scalability, and product delivery schedules.
