Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Engaging with a substantial and established C++ codebase that has a rich domain history.

• Taking ownership of features or subsystems and guiding them through the phases of design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance.

• Refactoring intricate or fragile areas to enhance clarity, performance, and reliability.

• Implementing modern C++ practices where they contribute to safety and maintainability.

• Facilitating architectural enhancements by aiding in the modularization of traditionally monolithic components.

• Collaborating with fellow engineers and experts in the chemistry/spectroscopy domain.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive professional experience with C++, including skills in debugging, refactoring, and performance optimization.

• Proven experience in working with large, long-standing codebases rather than solely on greenfield projects.

• Familiarity with Windows development; experience with MFC is highly advantageous.

• Strong grasp of memory management, threading, and performance trade-offs.

• Ability to enhance existing systems incrementally instead of starting from scratch.

• Generally, 6–10 years of professional software development experience.

• Excellent technical communication skills and a collaborative working approach.
