This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
β’ Oversee the design, development, and implementation of services, APIs, and integrations, prioritizing scalability, reliability, and performance.
β’ Maintain code quality and establish strategies for safely and reliably making frequent changes to production systems.
β’ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather business requirements and convert them into technical solutions.
β’ Guide and mentor junior and intermediate engineers through knowledge sharing, pairing, technical advice, and constructive feedback.
β’ Work alongside Engineering Managers to assess team performance, contribute to annual reviews, and engage in hiring efforts.
β’ Keep abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, introducing innovative solutions to the team.
β’ Partner with other Staff and Sr. Staff Engineers to foster a community of practice and develop an overarching organizational technical strategy for business success.
β’ Influence and publish within the organization and industry to drive positive changes in business value and technology strategy at RB Global, while also advancing the software development discipline globally.
β’ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
β’ Over 10 years of experience in software development, with practical expertise in backend development using Java.
β’ Proficient in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Go.
β’ In-depth knowledge of the Spring Framework (e.g., Spring Boot, Spring Data, Spring Security) and experience in building RESTful APIs.
β’ Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and event-driven systems.
β’ Significant experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).
β’ Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
β’ Basic knowledge of frontend frameworks (e.g., React, Angular) for effective collaboration with full stack teams.
β’ Experience with modern Lean Software development practices, including pair programming, Test-Driven Development (TDD), and Trunk Based Development.
β’ Good understanding of Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD) methodologies and tools.
β’ Excellent problem-solving abilities and a data-driven mindset in decision-making.
β’ Strong communication and collaboration skills, capable of working effectively in a remote team setting.
