Senior Software Engineer, Accessibility

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Lead the execution and advocate for DS partnerships and deliverables, including baseline audits, prioritizing remediation, DS coverage, CI automation, and production monitoring.

• Implement technical fixes and spearhead cross-team remediation initiatives.

• Collaborate with Design System, Product, Design, Legal, and External Audit providers to incorporate accessibility into workflows.

• Train specific team members to promote accessibility standards within their organization.

• Conduct user testing with assistive technologies and incorporate insights into product decisions.

• Develop and manage AI-assisted tools to enhance audits and remediation, ensuring human oversight through guardrails.

• Evaluate the long-term vision for the team, focusing on building engineering capabilities to address future challenges.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in software engineering, with at least three years at the senior or lead level.

• Demonstrated success in driving accessibility for a significant web application, with measurable outcomes.

• Strong frontend proficiency in React/TS, Storybook, axe-core/pa11y, Playwright/Cypress.

• Familiarity with WCAG requirements.

• Excellent cross-organizational influence and communication abilities.

• Experience integrating accessibility within continuous integration processes and Design Systems.

• Knowledge of LLM/AI tools applied to accessibility audits and remediation.
