Senior Software Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• TELUS Digital is on the lookout for a Senior Software Developer to become part of our Digital Billing Engineering DevOps team.

• This pivotal role is centered on enhancing, transforming, and ensuring continuity for our Kenan Application Support environments, particularly in managing KGW and its transition to EBG.

• The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with current domain experts to expedite learning, oversee data transformation logic, and support high-security Government of Canada (GoC) billing contracts.

⛳️ Requirements

• Location & Residency: Must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident residing onshore.

• Security Clearance: Must possess (or be eligible to attain) Government Security Clearance due to the sensitive nature of GoC LCD environments, full database access, and customer account management.

• Overall Experience: A minimum of 3 years of professional Software Development experience is required.

• Core Developer Background: Strong expertise in Java and Node.js is essential. Experience with TypeScript / Express for backend development is highly advantageous.

• Database & Query Expertise: Significant experience with relational databases, specifically PostgreSQL or Oracle.

• At least 3 years of experience in data transformation and analytical querying.

• Profound understanding of relational queries, including subqueries, analytic window functions, aggregations, triggers, partitioning, and index/optimization hints.

• Cloud & Modern Infrastructure: Comprehensive knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).

• Foundational understanding of Kubernetes and container orchestration principles.

• AI & Tooling Proficiency: Strong capability to collaborate with AI tools (notably Claude) to expedite development, pinpoint flawed logic, and strategize new data transformation routes.

• High proficiency in IDEs, particularly VS Code.

• DevOps & Standard Practices: Familiarity with GitHub and proficient in robust CI/CD pipelines.

• Solid understanding of API design and REST principles.

• Experience with Dynatrace for observability and performance monitoring.

• Knowledge of Jira for project tracking and issue management.

• Billing Domain Aptitude: Basic understanding of billing domains, with knowledge of the Kenan process/schema or a strong capability to quickly learn specialized billing systems.

• Quality Mindset: Strong emphasis on quality control, which includes unit testing, integration testing, and thorough data validation.

• Security Awareness: A deep understanding of data sensitivity and security protocols related to government contracts.

• Collaboration: Excellent communication and documentation skills to ensure effective knowledge transfer and team cohesion.
