Senior Scientific Director, Publications – Portfolio Lead

📋 Description

• Responsible for the comprehensive strategic management of one or more accounts

• Direct the scientific strategy and ensure content quality at scale

• Lead teams with a high degree of autonomy

• Set quality benchmarks and best practices within assigned teams

• Supervise the production of high-quality content across diverse materials

• Perform thorough scientific reviews to ensure accuracy, alignment, and stylistic coherence

• Guarantee adherence to applicable industry standards

• Facilitate scientific discussions, workshops, and training sessions

• Manage a team of 3-5 direct reports; conduct performance assessments, establish goals, and support career advancement

• Assist in project scoping and resource allocation for assigned initiatives

⛳️ Requirements

• An advanced degree in a scientific or healthcare-related discipline is preferred (e.g., MSc, PhD, PharmD, MD)

• Approximately 8+ years of experience in medical communications or medical writing, including leadership of multiple assets or accounts and oversight of scientific teams

• Around 3+ years of experience in people management and coaching

• Demonstrated excellence in scientific writing, editing, and data interpretation

• Proficient understanding of publication standards where applicable

• Strong grasp of the clinical research environment and regulatory framework

• Skilled in Microsoft Office, graphic design software, and collaboration tools

• Exceptional organizational and time-management skills
