This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Engages in results-driven planning for weekly sales calls, either in-person or virtually, within designated agency assignments.
• Offers prompt feedback and suggestions to management regarding market trends, service levels, and the effectiveness of Company initiatives.
• Addresses telephone and written inquiries, comments, questions, and concerns from agents and/or customers.
• Efficiently identifies and evaluates potential agency prospects.
• Chooses agencies that will foster mutually beneficial relationships, leading to profitable business for both the agency and the Company.
• Assists management with special projects beyond standard responsibilities.
• Completes seminars and courses to enhance team contributions through the application of enhanced knowledge and skills.
• Assists in interviewing and/or training newly hired employees as required.
• Responsible for the profitable development of agencies within assigned agency assignments.
• Encourages agents to quote and sell Mercury products to their customers.
• Implements the sales strategy aimed at increasing Mercury's market share within the assigned territory.
• Adjusts sales strategies in response to company objectives and industry conditions.
• Collaborates with other team members and departments to achieve company sales goals effectively.
• Provides mentoring and training to less experienced sales representatives.
• Maintains a robust pipeline of agent prospects.
• Communicates a need-based sales process that is mutually advantageous and addresses agency needs.
• Develops a strategic plan for assigned agencies to highlight opportunities and potential challenges.
• Demonstrates initiative and the capability to resolve complex issues with minimal oversight.
• Possesses comprehensive knowledge of Mercury’s systems and point of sales platform, assisting agencies as required.
• Ensures that agency teams receive complete training.
• Understands Mercury's focus and business appetites, leveraging opportunities to promote Mercury products.
• Clearly articulates the company’s position and seeks to engage with suitable agencies to meet objectives.
• Drives results through regular engagement with assigned agencies, utilizing effective communication supported by data and metrics to achieve a mutually agreed plan.
• Holds agency owners accountable for the goals set collaboratively.
• Capable of conveying and explaining challenging situations to gain buy-in.
• Provides consistent follow-up and follow-through with agency partners and Mercury team members.
• Employs data analytic tools to coach agents on overall performance within the assigned territory.
• Minimum: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in the industry.
• A valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record as per Company policy are mandatory.
• Minimum: At least 5 years of sales experience, including a minimum of 3 years in the Property & Casualty insurance sector.
• Must possess strong professional written, verbal, and virtual communication skills to effectively collaborate and build relationships with agency staff and team members.
• Must be comfortable participating in video conference calls as necessary.
• Must interact professionally with agencies and other team members to achieve territory goals.
• Must effectively communicate to uphold Company policies on complex issues, provide technical guidance, and facilitate training sessions as required.
• Strong analytical skills to understand and interpret data.
• Business agility; capable of quick pivots and adjustments.
• Creative and resourceful approach to problem-solving.
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision to train agencies both virtually and on-site.
• Willingness to travel by airline 10% of the time for company meetings or events.
• Willingness to travel by automobile 90% of the time for on-site visits to agencies.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities.
• Capability to motivate, monitor, and develop assigned agencies to maintain a knowledgeable and well-trained agency force.
• Proficient negotiating and mediating skills to facilitate resolutions and explain Company policies.
• Ability to analyze complex reports and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products is required.
• Working knowledge of CRM system(s) is essential.
