This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Conduct research studies ranging from rapid descriptive analyses to quasi-experimental designs.
• Create and manage comprehensive research plans that define questions, select methodologies, establish timelines, and monitor deliverables from initiation to dissemination.
• Oversee, clean, and analyze data sourced from TalkingPoints’ platform, partner datasets, and public repositories.
• Implement methods suitable for the research questions, including exploratory and descriptive analyses, advanced techniques like quasi-experimental design, hierarchical linear modeling, and natural language processing.
• Utilize R/Python for data analysis and visualization, employ SQL and tools like Sigma for data exploration, and leverage AI tools to enhance the workflow from analysis to research communication.
• Transform findings into clear and compelling impact narratives—through presentations, reports, and publications.
• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to align research with organizational objectives and contribute to revenue generation.
• Interact with external district contacts in collaboration with the Senior Research Manager and Director of Research.
• Co-create research questions and methodologies alongside internal and external partners.
• Master's degree in social sciences, education, public policy, or a related field with a solid foundation in research methodologies.
• Over 5 years of applied research experience focused on K-12 education within nonprofit, edtech, or mission-driven environments.
• Proficient in mixed methods design and data analysis, with an understanding of proxy measures and the ability to communicate methodological trade-offs transparently.
• Strong project management skills and follow-through capabilities, requiring minimal oversight.
• Exceptional communicator able to present research findings to diverse non-research audiences through effective writing and data visualizations.
• Strong ability to collaborate across functions.
• Familiarity with public education datasets (e.g., NCES, state longitudinal systems).
• Proficient in R or Python; working knowledge of SQL and self-service data tools (e.g., Sigma).
• Comfortable using AI tools within research workflows.
• Experience in appropriately handling PII/sensitive data.
