This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Establish and nurture relationships with state-level decision-makers such as Commissioners, Boards of Education, and Deputy Commissioners.
• Provide advice on emerging policy trends and accountability changes that affect assessment and readiness programs.
• Act as ACT’s policy representative in executive-level discussions, ensuring alignment of ACT solutions with state objectives.
• Influence and shape RFP executive summaries and model frameworks to mirror policy priorities.
• Deliver strategic insights regarding shifts in state education policy and their impact on ACT’s offerings.
• Collaborate with the Government Relations (GR) team to maintain cohesive messaging while avoiding overlapping lobbying efforts.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience within the education sector.
• Background in a leadership position at a State Department of Education, a State Higher Education Executive Officers (SHEEO) agency, or a State Department of Labor, such as Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner, Chief of Staff, State Director, or comparable executive leadership roles.
• Proven capability to engage and influence senior state officials effectively.
• In-depth knowledge of state education policy, accountability frameworks, and governance systems.
• Demonstrated experience in translating intricate policy environments into strategic actions for the organization.
• Exceptional communication abilities, particularly in executive-level contexts.
• Willingness to travel frequently (approximately 30%) and manage executive relationships across various states.
• Capability to acquire and utilize extensive knowledge of ACT’s products and services, including their collective application to provide solutions for state clients.
• Proven ability to engage and influence key state executives.
• Proficiency in gathering and leveraging competitive intelligence to devise strategies that promote and/or safeguard ACT’s interests.
• Ability to work effectively and establish relationships with individuals within the organization.
• Strong communication skills, including the capability to convey information effectively at all organizational levels, as well as outstanding presentation skills.
• Strong analytical skills with the capacity to identify logical solutions to complex issues.
• Ability to set objectives and priorities and see them through to completion.
