This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Serve as a reliable and recognized subject matter expert both internally and externally, showcasing extensive knowledge across various areas of product sustainability and regulatory compliance. Focus specifically on regulatory and industry objectives for product sustainability programs, such as Product Carbon Footprint, Life Cycle Assessment, Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) including digital product passports, Environmental Product Declarations, and sustainable product initiatives.
• Stay informed about regulatory, sustainability, and industry-driven developments, identifying trends through continuous monitoring and research of global standards and regulations, alongside engagement with industry groups. Influence regulatory and sustainability industry advancements and Assent’s opportunities through proactive trade association involvement, participation in working groups, relationship-building, standard development/updating, and support for events as a thought leader.
• Collaborate with the Product Management team to pinpoint opportunities for Assent to create impactful new products and software solutions by articulating regulatory compliance and sustainability market, customer, and industry insights, while building the business case in alignment with team and Assent objectives.
• Be a prominent advocate for the ongoing development of Assent’s solutions, including leading the establishment of market best practices and recommendations for adopting best practices that enhance the Assent SaaS Platform, offering full cycle support from design to delivery.
• Provide continuous expertise and guidance to internal and external stakeholders, either through direct engagement or via Sales or Customer Success teams, including prospective customers, to inform and support compliance efforts and objectives related to regulatory compliance and sustainability. Skillfully simplify complex information to facilitate meaningful dialogue across diverse audiences.
• Exhibit thought leadership and bolster Assent’s brand recognition as a trusted advisor by working with marketing teams to create external-facing materials such as blog posts, white papers, webinars, and sales enablement resources, in addition to participating in third-party events including conferences and industry group engagements.
• Assist in training programs and educational initiatives focused on product sustainability, encompassing both regulatory compliance and market concerns.
• Be knowledgeable about corporate security policies and adhere to the guidance established by Assent Inc.'s processes and procedures.
• A minimum of 12 years of hands-on experience related to product sustainability, design for sustainability, life cycle assessment, circular economy, product stewardship, or ecodesign.
• A relevant post-secondary degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Engineering, Environmental Law, Design for Environment, or a similar relevant field.
• Familiarity with manufacturing practices, with experience in product design, certification and compliance, procurement, sustainability, or other product or supply chain management roles being advantageous.
• A prior background in consulting or an advisory role that involved revenue generation is considered beneficial.
• Strong knowledge of LCA software solutions (e.g., Sphera, One Click LCA, openLCA, SimaPro, etc.) is desirable.
• Proficiency in PCF/LCA Standards and industry-specific requirements, including PCRs.
• Experience managing strategic product sustainability programs within a multinational organization that produces durable professional goods.
• Excellent research, critical thinking, and analytical skills; capable of processing and interpreting large volumes of complex information, including legal text, identifying relevant business impacts, and summarizing critical information for non-compliance stakeholders.
• Strong public speaking and presentation capabilities, with the ability to create content and adapt messaging for diverse audiences, supporting Sales, Marketing, and Product engagements.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills in English are essential.
• Strategic and business-oriented, possessing strong business acumen and understanding of Assent’s goals and value proposition, with the ability to align efforts and priorities with broader team and organizational objectives.
• Exceptional collaboration and influencing abilities, capable of establishing robust cross-functional relationships with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders, fostering trust and driving alignment.
