
Senior Product Engineer β Web Services

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.
β’ Take ownership of the complete evolution, quality, and customer impact of one or more ArcGIS web services, encompassing enhancements, defect resolution, reliability improvements, and technical investments.
β’ Act as the primary decision-maker for the assigned services, balancing customer demands, platform health, and long-term sustainability.
β’ Establish and implement service goals, success metrics, and quality standards, leveraging telemetry and customer feedback to inform prioritization and investment strategies.
β’ Maintain and prioritize a thorough product backlog, making well-informed trade-offs among features, defects, technical debt, and operational tasks.
β’ Manage service contracts, API functionality, versioning, and backward compatibility, assessing the downstream impact across the ArcGIS ecosystem.
β’ Promote operational excellence by advocating for best practices in reliability, performance, scalability, and observability.
β’ Shape product direction and amplify impact through cross-team collaboration, mentorship, and shared standards.
β’ Validate and manage enhancement and defect requests in partnership with Esri Support Services.
β’ Over 5 years of experience in a product-focused role such as Product Engineer, Technical Product Owner, Product Manager, or a similar position.
β’ Significant experience in Agile software development environments.
β’ In-depth understanding of web services and APIs, including RESTful services, service contracts, versioning, and backward compatibility.
β’ Experience with ArcGIS applications and technologies (including ArcGIS Hub, ArcGIS Map Viewer, ArcGIS REST APIs, ArcGIS API for Python, ArcGIS Maps SDKs).
β’ Familiarity with cloud-native service fundamentals, including availability, performance, monitoring, and operational considerations.
β’ Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
β’ Proven capability to work autonomously while effectively collaborating across teams.
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science, GIS, Information Science, or a related field.
