Senior Privacy Consultant – DPO Advisory

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Lead the execution of Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), Records of Processing Activities (ROPA) creation, privacy program gap evaluations, compliance initiatives for GDPR/DPDP/EU AI Act, assessments for cross-border transfers (SCCs, adequacy), and reviews of privacy notices/policies.

• Act as Sprinto's primary expert on the latest privacy regulations: trends in GDPR enforcement, India's DPDP Rules, phased obligations under the EU AI Act, US state privacy laws (CCPA/CPRA, VCDPA, etc.), and other regional frameworks (PDPL, PIPL) based on customer needs.

• Develop and sustain DPIA templates, ROPA templates, legitimate interest assessment frameworks, and AI governance/impact assessment templates aligned with EU AI Act risk tiers.

• Establish packaging for privacy services (e.g., DPIA-as-a-service, ROPA sprint, fixed-fee tiers for privacy program development).

• Manage pricing, margin, and utilization within your engagement portfolio; anticipate privacy demand capacity.

• Collaborate with Sales/SE/CS on privacy-attach opportunities.

• Create AI-assisted DPIA/ROPA generation playbooks that include essential human validation checkpoints — privacy work entails greater interpretative and liability considerations than merely mapping technical controls, thus necessitating more rigorous review gates.

• Clearly define boundaries/disclaimers: this position offers regulatory/program guidance, not legal advice. Recognize when to advise a customer to seek external legal counsel and avoid blurring that distinction under deal pressures.

• Assist customers in navigating regulatory inquiries or breach-notification timelines strictly in an advisory role.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in privacy consulting, DPO/privacy office roles, or managing in-house privacy programs.

• Proven experience in delivering DPIAs and ROPAs at scale — beyond just drafting policy.

• Extensive knowledge of GDPR and India's DPDP Act.

• Familiarity with the EU AI Act, US state privacy laws, and an understanding of other regional frameworks (PDPL, PIPL).

• Preferred but not mandatory: Legal background (JD/LLM or paralegal/compliance-law experience) — sufficient to independently read and interpret regulatory texts for routine inquiries. This is a differentiator rather than a filtering criterion due to the limited availability of this skill set in the market.

• Proficiency in AI-enabled workflows: Demonstrated application of AI tools to minimize manual efforts and standardize deliverables.

• Strong operational skills: Comfortable managing pricing/margin for a specialized, judgment-intensive service line. Exceptional written communication; capable of addressing ambiguous regulatory inquiries in real-time customer interactions.

• Preferred: IAPP certifications (CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT, FIP), formal DPO certification.
