Senior Power System Engineer – Renewable, Data Center Integration

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assist with studies related to large load and generation interconnections.

• Interpret and apply NERC, FERC, ISO/RTO, and TSP requirements for generation and large load interconnections.

• Create and verify steady state models using ETAP and PSSE, and dynamic models in PSS®E and PSCAD for: substantial electronic loads (e.g., data centers), PV, wind, and BESS resources.

• Aid in the development and integration of: Solar/Wind/BESS Power Plant Controllers (PPCs) and Master Plant Controllers (MPCs).

• Oversee RTDS / RSCAD CHIL testing (Control Hardware-in-the-Loop).

• Contribute to microgrid design and control studies at both MV and HV levels.

• Engage in EPC HV/MV substation design studies for: large data center initiatives, utility-scale PV, wind, and BESS projects.

• Collaborate with Transmission Service Providers (TSPs), ISO/RTOs (especially ERCOT), developers, OEMs, and project stakeholders.

• Execute steady-state and short-circuit analyses, including: load flow studies, short circuit analysis, protection coordination, arc-flash studies, reactive power and energy loss analysis, and harmonic studies.

• Perform electromagnetic transient (EMT) studies in PSCAD, which include: transient overvoltage (TOV), transient recovery voltage (TRV), insulation coordination, SSR/SSO screening, and mitigation analysis.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems preferred).

• Over 5 years of pertinent experience in power systems planning and interconnection.

• Strong proficiency in PSCAD/RSCAD EMT modeling.

• Experience in embedding and coordinating PPC and MPC control strategies.

• Familiarity with RTDS / RSCAD CHIL testing (Control Hardware-in-the-Loop).

• Proven experience with: large load interconnection studies (experience with data centers is highly preferred).

• Knowledge of generation interconnections (PV, wind, BESS).

• Understanding of NERC, FERC, ISO/RTO, and TSP requirements for generation and large load interconnections.

• Professional Engineer (PE) license (preferred but not mandatory).
