This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.
• Assess damaged cargo to identify the nature, cause, and extent of the damages.
• Examine documents to ascertain when the cargo sustained damage.
• Deliver written reports to underwriters and other stakeholders offering a qualified opinion on the cause of loss.
• Supervise the loading and unloading of cargo from vessels and other transportation methods to document damages.
• Evaluate damaged ships to ascertain the cause and extent of damage resulting from collisions or mechanical failures.
• Receive and evaluate new claims.
• Ensure data integrity within the claims management system.
• Contribute to the organization's quality assurance programs.
• Travel as necessary.
• Carry out other assigned responsibilities.
• A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.
• A valid driver's license and current insurance coverage are required.
• Motor vehicle record that meets Property requirements.
• Minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience or a combination of education and experience that is equivalent is required.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Strong organizational abilities.
• Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Ability to meet or exceed established Performance Competencies.
• Physical ability to climb, crawl, stoop, kneel, reach/work overhead, lift/carry up to 50 pounds, and push/pull up to 100 pounds.
• Capacity to drive for up to 4 hours per day.
• Willingness to work in wet and/or humid conditions, elevated or precarious locations, outdoor weather, and moderately noisy environments.
• Ability to work safely around moving mechanical components, fumes or airborne particles, and hazardous or corrosive substances.
• Adequate close, distance, color, and peripheral vision; good depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.
