Senior Manual QA Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Test Strategy & Design: Evaluate user requirements and design documentation to create comprehensive, risk-based testing plans and manual test cases for a sophisticated SaaS platform.

• Execution & Reporting: Oversee the execution of functional, regression, and integration test cases. Accurately document defects and provide detailed testing summaries for various team members within the organization.

• Data Validation: Use SQL queries to analyze, manipulate, and verify test data.

• Impact Analysis: Assess proposed software modifications to understand their effects on platform performance, scalability, and reliability.

• Mentorship: Offer technical guidance and "best practice" mentoring to QA Engineers to enhance team productivity and depth of testing.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Facilitate information flow and maintain close communication with Developers, Product Owners, and DevOps teams.

• Process Improvement: Employ innovative thinking to enhance existing QA methodologies and ensure adherence to established development standards.

• Issue Monitoring: Monitor and triage issues identified during the SDLC, as well as urgent bugs reported by end-users.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience: 8–10+ years in the Quality Assurance field, with a demonstrated history in fast-paced, growth-oriented startups. You have successfully managed the transition from early-stage builds to scaled production environments.

• AI & Efficiency: Proactive expertise in utilizing Generative AI and LLM tools to enhance manual testing efforts. This encompasses using AI for:

• - Synthesizing complex product requirements into detailed test cases.

• - Enhancing test coverage by leveraging AI to discover edge cases that standard methods might overlook.

• Technical Proficiency: Significant experience testing cloud-native applications (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and modern, multi-tenant SaaS platforms. You grasp the intricacies of testing distributed systems.

• Data Skills: Expert-level proficiency in SQL for comprehensive data validation and backend integrity testing.

• Methodology: Strong foundation in black-box and white-box testing, as well as principles of non-functional, performance, accessibility, and security testing.

• Analytical Mindset: Detail-oriented and meticulous approach with the capability to resolve complex issues autonomously. You go beyond merely identifying bugs; you conduct root cause analysis and provide the technical context essential for swift resolution.

• Strategic Communication: Exceptional writing, verbal, and presentation skills; ability to translate technical bugs into business-level implications for stakeholders and maintain proactive alignment with supervisors and cross-functional teams. Active involvement in design reviews, sprint planning, and daily stand-ups.

• Adaptability & Collaboration: Flourishes in environments with shifting requirements. You are a self-starter who collaborates effectively across different time zones, promoting a culture of quality within engineering and product teams.

• Skills and Competencies

• Strong experience with Quality and Test Management tools (e.g., Jira, QASE).

• Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.

• Proactive communicator who excels at risk mitigation by promptly identifying and escalating blockers while independently managing testing workstreams and handling high-volume requests with conflicting priorities.

• Proven ability to foster cooperation and unity across engineering and product teams.

• Familiarity with the "shift-left" methodology and supporting the transition from manual-heavy to automation-integrated workflows.
