Senior Manager, Sustainability Program

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Lead the development and implementation of the GBTA Foundation’s sustainability strategy, delivering impactful global initiatives, research, and industry frameworks.

• Recognize emerging needs and create new programs, partnerships, and thought leadership to promote industry advancement.

• Develop tools, resources, and clear guidance to assist organizations in measuring, managing, and minimizing emissions.

• Cultivate strong relationships with members, partners, and industry organizations; encourage collaboration on shared objectives, standards, and advocacy priorities.

• Act as a significant external advocate, support policy and positioning efforts, and lead education, events, and reporting to enhance engagement and achieve measurable results.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

• 7–10 years of relevant professional experience in sustainability, consulting, research, policy, or roles within the industry/nonprofit sectors.

• Experience working in multi-stakeholder, global environments—preferably within travel or related industries.

• Demonstrated ability to design and execute complex initiatives from inception to implementation.

• Strong comprehension of climate issues (e.g., Scope 3, decarbonization) and the capability to translate technical concepts into clear, actionable insights.

• Exceptional stakeholder management, senior-level engagement skills, and strong written/oral communication, along with solid project management abilities and a proactive, collaborative approach.

• Valid Passport.
