Senior Manager, OSP

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Oversee the fibre design, OSP, ISP engineering, and GIS team to ensure the successful delivery of all optical network infrastructure projects from survey and tender stages through planning to implementation and acceptance.

• Accountable for the daily management and supervision of construction and fibre engineering vendors to accelerate the construction, cabling, fibre splicing, and testing processes for multiple OSP projects.

• Design and assess fibre optic network layouts according to the specific requirements of each project.

• Generate detailed project cost estimates and Bills of Materials (BoM).

• Create and distribute high-level design and installation documentation.

• Collect and evaluate network As-built information, including fibre analysis.

• Collaborate with Sales Engineers to produce route drawings and cost estimates for potential customer opportunities and network capabilities.

• Engage with Project Managers regarding customer delivery quality issues that need resolution before acceptance.

• Standardise and uphold network information within Salesforce for customer networks and Zayo infrastructure projects, ensuring accuracy and validation.

• Cultivate relationships with Local Authorities, third-party stakeholders, and Right-of-Way contacts.

• Maintain a close working relationship with the underlying rights group to identify and prepare work permitting and building access agreements.

• Conduct Health & Safety and Quality Assurance inspections to ensure compliance.

• Offer specialised telecommunications technical expertise to support telecom civil construction methods and optical cable installation, both externally and within a datacentre environment.

• Provide a direct interface with customers, subcontractors, local authorities, and Zayo personnel.

• Support customer meetings as needed and travel to client and/or construction sites.

• Oversee the procurement of equipment and materials related to assigned projects.

• Execute Bid Process support, covering fibre networks, infrastructure, backbone design, and budgetary needs.

• Review and update project documentation to manage project delivery, risks, budgets, and internal/external communication.

• Offer on-call support to address and troubleshoot network outages and emergency restoration activities.

• Timely monitor project progress and budgets using Salesforce.com and other manual tracking methods.

• Promptly update budget requests, purchase orders, project closures, and internal service orders in Salesforce.

⛳️ Requirements

• Fluency in both German and English is essential.

• At least 3 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, specifically with outside plant, fibre optics, telecommunication networks, optical transport equipment, and project management.

• A minimum of 3 years of familiarity with all types of outside plant construction and experience managing large capital projects.

• Other relevant qualifications or experience in a similar role within a telecommunications or utility environment will be considered.

• A comprehensive understanding of all aspects of Zayo’s OSP processes, including OSP construction, site preparation and permitting, and OSP testing and acceptance standards.

• Familiarity with all elements of OSP management, including quotations, construction, RAMS, and delivery.

• Ability to read and comprehend construction documents and optical test specifications/results.

• Proficient in Email, MS Excel & Word, Google Docs, Visio, Google Earth, AutoCAD, and Smallworld GIS.

• Experience with Salesforce.com will be a significant advantage.

• Capable of managing multiple aggressive RFP and design construction schedules and responses.
