This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.
• Oversee the quantitative evaluation of physical and transition climate risks across various portfolios, sectors, and regions.
• Create and execute a methodology for calculating financed emissions that aligns with international best practices, such as PCAF, and assist in determining scope 3 financed emissions.
• Develop and sustain indicators, metrics, and dashboards related to climate risk measurement using advanced analytics and statistical methods.
• Collaborate with diverse teams, including data and technology, enterprise risk management, etc., to establish data pipelines, climate risk datasets, and analytical tools.
• Aggregate and verify quantitative inputs for climate risk regulatory submissions and internal management reports.
• Oversee the creation of quantitative ESG and sustainability-related disclosures, including GRI, ESG Reports, ISSB, and IFRS S1 & S2.
• Assist in change management and automation initiatives concerning climate risk data and reporting.
• Develop and uphold quantitative metrics related to Net Zero objectives.
• Propose quantitative thresholds for climate risk appetite for inclusion in the Group Risk Appetite Statement and country-specific addendums.
• Monitor pathways for financed emissions reduction.
• Conduct annual emissions trend analysis and variance explanation.
• A full-time graduate in Economic, Financial, or Data Science disciplines from a prestigious university.
• Strong analytical and critical-thinking abilities with the capacity to convert technical findings into actionable insights.
• Proficiency in analytical tools such as Excel, Power BI, and query-based tools like SAS, R, Python, or any other climate-risk platforms.
• Possession of professional risk management certifications related to climate risk (SCR, FRM, CFA) is advantageous, with a preference for SCR certified candidates.
• Solid understanding of carbon accounting methodologies, particularly PCAF alignment.
• At least five years of experience in a financial institution is required, with a preference for candidates with specific climate risk and ESG risk experience; flexibility in years of experience may be considered.
• Familiarity with sustainability reporting frameworks (e.g., TCFD, IFRS S2) and the ability to provide constructive feedback that aligns with policy and regulatory requirements.
• Strong analytical skills aimed at evaluating climate and its associated risks, conducting thorough research on client climate risk performance, and translating climate risks into financial consequences.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of collaborating with a variety of stakeholders across business, risk, and support functions in dynamic, multicultural settings. Proficiency in Arabic is a plus.
• Highly organized and adept at managing multiple priorities while remaining updated on the latest developments in climate science, technology, policy, particularly in the Middle East, as well as regional and global climate trends.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and manage multiple stakeholders across the group in a multicultural environment spanning different geographies.
• Ongoing interactions with various stakeholders throughout the group, including but not limited to frontline business functions, IBG countries, Risk & Credit Management, Compliance, Internal Auditors, and external consultants.
