This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Formulate and implement the North American sales tax incentive strategy for the company.
• Identify, assess, rank, and capitalize on incentive opportunities that align with expansion goals.
• Simulate state and local tax liabilities, incentives, and overall project economics during the due diligence phase for potential data center projects.
• Conduct research, analysis, and monitoring of state and local tax regulations, economic development, and incentive frameworks.
• Lead the negotiation, execution, and management of sales and use tax incentives, economic development incentives, and governmental agreements.
• Work collaboratively with teams across development, legal, construction, procurement, finance, accounting, operations, and executive leadership.
• Provide guidance to internal stakeholders regarding incentive eligibility, compliance responsibilities, reporting mandates, and risk management strategies.
• Assist with cost segregation studies and initiatives related to construction tax planning.
• Facilitate tenant participation in relevant incentive programs.
• Track capital investments, construction costs, employment commitments, wage benchmarks, and other performance indicators.
• Prepare, review, and file compliance certifications, incentive performance reports, refund claims, and other necessary documentation.
• Lead audit defense efforts and manage responses to inquiries from government entities and external consultants.
• Collaborate with indirect tax compliance teams on exemptions, direct pay permits, refund opportunities, and strategies for tax savings.
• Engage with tax advisors, economic development agencies, governmental authorities, and industry partners.
• Improve incentive governance, compliance processes, data management, and reporting capabilities.
• Address critical sales and use tax issues as business needs arise.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline is required.
• CPA and/or CMI/CCIP designation is mandatory.
• A Master of Taxation is highly preferred.
• Over 10 years of experience in state and local tax, economic development incentives, credits and incentives, site selection, or similar tax advisory roles.
• Significant experience in negotiating and managing incentive agreements.
• Proven experience in negotiating and administering large-scale sales and use tax exemptions, economic development incentives, or capital investment incentive agreements.
• Familiarity with data centers, manufacturing facilities, technology infrastructure, renewable energy projects, or other capital-intensive ventures.
• Extensive exposure to multistate and local jurisdictions.
• Experience in the construction industry is preferred but not essential.
• Knowledge of Canadian GST/HST/PST taxation is preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial modeling capabilities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other financial modeling software.
• Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to complete tasks accurately and on time.
• Capacity to work independently in a dynamic environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Willingness to travel, with expected travel up to 5%, potentially increasing over time.

• Ability to occasionally lift or move items weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Competitive base salary ranging from $160,000 to $180,000, in addition to a bonus.
