Senior Mainframe Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise COBOL applications on IBM Mainframe platforms.

• Enhance and develop batch and online transaction processing systems.

• Analyze both business and technical requirements to provide scalable and reliable solutions.

• Troubleshoot production issues while delivering ongoing application support.

• Optimize application performance to enhance system stability.

• Engage in code reviews and contribute to best practices in development.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle.

• Support modernization efforts and integration with newer technologies while preserving critical legacy systems.

• Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in IBM Mainframe development.

• Strong practical expertise in:

• COBOL

• JCL

• CICS

• DB2

• VSAM

• Proven experience in supporting enterprise-scale production applications.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Familiarity with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

• Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in the Banking, Financial Services, or Insurance (BFSI) sector.

• Knowledge of financial transaction processing systems.

• Experience with IBM z/OS.

• Familiarity with tools such as File-AID, Abend-AID, Expeditor, Endevor, or Changeman.

• Experience in integrating mainframe applications with distributed systems or APIs.

• Exposure to Agile development methodologies.

• Experience in supporting modernization or digital transformation initiatives.
