Senior Machine Learning Engineer, Applied AI Modeling

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and optimize large language models (LLMs) to facilitate intelligent, safe, and responsive interactions within browsers.

• Implement retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), summarization, classification, and intent modeling techniques in practical browser workflows.

• Utilize contemporary ML tools (such as Hugging Face, LangChain, Weights & Biases, Ray, or similar) to aid in comprehensive model development, encompassing experimentation, evaluation, and deployment.

• Work collaboratively with product and engineering teams to design, refine, and launch features that meet user requirements and reflect Mozilla’s core values.

• Create and conduct experiments to assess model performance in production, analyze outcomes, and iterate based on insights gained.

• Document and communicate your contributions, engaging in code reviews and team design discussions.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of experience in applied machine learning, particularly in natural language processing or generative AI.

• Practical experience in fine-tuning and assessing LLMs utilizing modern tools and open-source libraries.

• Strong grasp of prompt engineering, embedding-based retrieval, and evaluation methodologies for generative applications.

• Experience with ML tools to oversee the complete lifecycle of model development—from data exploration to production-ready artifacts.

• Proven track record in developing user-centric AI features, especially where privacy, latency, and usability are of utmost importance.

• Excellent communication skills and capacity to collaborate effectively with multi-functional teams in a distributed setting.
