Senior Linux Infrastructure Engineer, Bare Metal, Storage

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Malaysia.

📋 Description

• We are seeking a highly skilled Linux Infrastructure Engineer with substantial expertise in traditional Linux administration, bare metal infrastructure, and enterprise storage solutions.

• This position does not emphasize DevOps or cloud-native engineering, as we already have a proficient DevOps team. We are in search of a candidate with extensive practical experience in designing, building, administering, and troubleshooting large-scale Linux infrastructure.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient-level Linux administration (Ubuntu required; Red Hat and SUSE preferred)

• Extensive knowledge in bare metal server deployment, architecture, and administration

• Strong understanding of server hardware components, including BIOS, RAID, firmware, iLO/iDRAC/IPMI, NICs, HBA cards, and hardware troubleshooting

• Experience in designing and managing enterprise Linux infrastructure

• Advanced administration of Linux storage systems: LVM, XFS, EXT4, NFS, iSCSI, Fibre Channel SAN, and Multipath I/O

• Significant hands-on experience with Ceph, covering: Cluster architecture MON, OSD, MDS RBD, CephFS, RGW

• Capacity planning skills

• Performance tuning capabilities

• Experience in failure recovery

• Comprehensive networking knowledge (bonding, VLANs, routing, MTU, DNS, DHCP)

• Familiarity with high availability, clustering, and disaster recovery solutions

• Strong troubleshooting abilities across Linux OS, hardware, networking, and storage domains

• Proficiency in Bash and Python scripting for automation purposes

• Nice to have experience in Kubernetes infrastructure (particularly storage integration)

• Familiarity with VMware or KVM

• Knowledge of Ansible

• Exposure to AWS/Azure

• We are not considering candidates whose experience is predominantly in CI/CD pipeline engineering

• Candidates focused mainly on Terraform, GitOps, or container platforms will not be considered

• Cloud-only administrators with limited bare metal or infrastructure experience need not apply
