This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.
• Prepare, review, negotiate, and provide guidance on lease agreements in accordance with company protocols as instructed.
• Ensure lease documentation is compliant, accurately represents financial negotiations, and adheres to applicable laws and Sussan Group standards.
• Aim for the optimal outcome for Sussan Group.
• Keep the Group Leasing Manager updated on all significant issues promptly.
• Draft and deliver legal counsel.
• Address inquiries regarding legal advice related to leases in a timely and collaborative manner.
• Manage retail or commercial leasing matters from start to finish.
• Offer legal assistance to the Group Leasing Manager and leasing team as necessary.
• Verify that Lease documentation accurately reflects financial negotiations.
• Confirm that Lease documents comply with applicable laws and Sussan Group guidelines.
• Coordinate with internal team members, store staff, agents, landlords, and external legal counsel.
• Investigate retail leasing law topics.
• Identify and propose enhancements for systems utilized by the Leasing Department.
• Ensure adherence to relevant laws and regulations.
• Uphold our B Corp standards for social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.
• Maintain compliance with Company policies and procedures at all times.
• Keep the Group Retail CEO and Group People & Community Partnerships Managers informed about any legal matters or issues that may pose a reputational risk to the Brand.
• Exceptional commercial and retail leasing legal experience throughout Australia.
• Comprehensive understanding of national retail tenancy legislation and associated property laws in Australia.
• Demonstrated experience in negotiations.
• Experience in the retail property sector (Australia) is preferred.
• Proficient in Word, Outlook, Excel, OneNote, and Internet applications.
• Relevant Legal Qualification is required.
• Senior-level experience within an Australian retailer and an Australian leasing firm is desirable.
