Senior Gameplay Programmer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Assist in the implementation of game mechanics and AI behaviors for our engaging 6-person multiplayer experiences while mentoring fellow programmers.

• Continuously explore the capabilities of the Unity game engine to enhance the quality of each VR experience.

• Stay updated on the latest features and optimization techniques, evaluating when and how to integrate them effectively.

• Identify or create tools and processes to streamline the development workflow.

• Actively engage in writing maintainable code that can be reused across various experiences.

• Take ownership of critical areas of the experience from a technical standpoint.

• Experiment with game design and utilize rapid prototyping to develop features, ensuring sound architectural and algorithmic choices are made.

• Collaborate closely with art and design teams to create and refine gameplay features.

• Address and resolve bugs in existing gameplay systems as necessary.

• Contribute ideas to all facets of the VR experience’s production and development processes, focusing on writing robust, maintainable code.

⛳️ Requirements

• You have experience as a software or feature group team lead and can articulate your leadership philosophy along with specific instances where you have applied it.

• Outstanding C# programming skills with a minimum of 5 years of software development experience.

• Significant experience in programming with the Unity engine is essential.

• A proven track record is required, having shipped at least 2 commercial games (preferably for PC or Console) while participating in every stage of the development process from concept to final release.

• You can share compelling stories of your notable successes or significant failures and the lessons learned from each experience.

• Avid video game player with a strong grasp of current gaming trends and popular game releases.

• It’s a considerable advantage if you own a VR headset and regularly engage with VR games.
