This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +3 more states.
• Oversee, assess, and evaluate intricate financial and accounting transactions as well as financial data to ensure accuracy, appropriateness, and compliance with policies.
• Record and summarize activities and findings in analyses and reports for departmental management.
• Lead approximately three to five financial audits or reviews annually, conducted either remotely or on-site.
• Manage and mentor team members who support the auditing process.
• Assess adherence to federal regulations, contractual obligations, and procedures at BCBSA and the Plans.
• Maintain the BCBSA compliance plan and act as the primary contact for financial and claims audits.
• Formulate corrective action plans as necessary.
• Act as a subject matter expert on BCBSA financial audit policies and procedures.
• Analyze trends in audits, identify best practices and risks, and develop an efficient audit program.
• Create and deliver audit training sessions for BCBSA and the Plans.
• Review complex inter-Plan billing rate requests and recommend approved rates.
• Manage intricate activities related to the contract with a major banking institution.
• Offer guidance to team members.
• Ensure that transaction billings to the Plans are accurate and that reports fulfill internal requirements.
• Collaborate with staff and management across BCBSA, the Plans, and a banking institution.
• Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, business, finance, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience.
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.
• Experience in health insurance accounting, internal and financial auditing, general accounting, financial reporting, and project management.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to cultivate relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Capacity to train less experienced personnel.
• Advanced analytical abilities with a knack for framing issues and devising solutions.
• Capability to work independently and effectively manage time.
• Proficient presentation skills with the ability to adapt to shifting priorities.
• Intermediate understanding of auditing, finance, and claims operations.
• Exceptional negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Strong project management, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to develop and sustain business relationships and create strategies that support initiatives.
• Familiarity with BCBS Inter-Plan Programs.
