Senior Engineer – Transmission Line

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Conduct thorough QA/QC evaluations of utility transmission design packages to verify adherence to client specifications, industry codes (NESC, NEC), and engineering standards.

• Assess design precision, completeness, and constructability by reviewing design checklists, redlines, field data, and structural calculations.

• Recognize design inconsistencies, omissions, and potential constructability challenges; offer clear corrective feedback to design teams.

• Work collaboratively with project managers, design engineers, drafters, and field personnel to address design discrepancies and ensure prompt corrections.

• Create and uphold QA/QC procedures, workflows, and best practices aimed at enhancing design quality and minimizing rework.

• Monitor QA/QC metrics and maintain documentation of review outcomes, trends, and corrective measures.

• Aid in training and mentoring junior engineers and designers on quality standards and client expectations.

• Assist in pre-construction coordination by resolving QA/QC issues that may affect field execution.

• Offer technical recommendations to management for the ongoing enhancement of QA/QC processes and standards.

• Ensure compliance with project timelines by maintaining efficient QA/QC turnaround times without sacrificing quality.

• Engage in client meetings, audits, and internal reviews concerning quality control and compliance with engineering standards.

• Support the deployment of digital QA/QC tools and systems to optimize review workflows and reporting.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or 4 years of formal post-high school specialized training from an ABET-accredited institution is preferred.

• Over 5 years of experience in transmission engineering.

• More than 5 years of experience using PLS-CADD.

• Familiarity with NESC and other relevant codes and standards.

• Excellent computer and communication skills.

• Openness to learn and operate programs, systems, and software provided by clients.

• Demonstrated success in achieving results in a production environment.

• Willingness to travel 5 - 25% of the time to client sites (anticipated to travel at least once per quarter) for project and/or performance meetings.
