This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Takes on a leadership position within GE Hitachi’s Plant Systems Integration teams, concentrating on the development of innovative advanced nuclear reactor projects.
• Responsible for providing engineering design support within a collaborative team setting, engaging with various disciplines, project/product stakeholders, partner organizations, and suppliers to enhance plant conceptual and detailed designs.
• Accountable for the creation and execution of licensing and technical requirements, along with the related work processes for advanced projects in new nuclear plants.
• Conducts integration of components and systems within the overall design of new nuclear plants.
• Oversees product and systems requirements, specifications, and their flow down.
• Facilitates the identification of verification and validation (V&V) requirements at the plant, system, and component levels.
• Contributes to the development of strategies and policies, ensuring successful delivery within the scope of responsibility.
• Utilizes judgment to make decisions or resolve moderately complex issues in the areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology, or engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Physics from an accredited university or college.
• At least 8+ years of experience in an engineering role.
• Master’s or PhD in Engineering (Nuclear, Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil).
• Familiarity with Nuclear Island, Turbine Island, and BOP plant systems, including the relevant safety analyses design bases.
• Experience as a Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) at a nuclear power facility is highly preferred.
• SRO experience in various roles, including on-shift duties, outage preparation, work control, and/or training.
• Over 10 years of commercial nuclear engineering experience across various functions such as Design, Licensing, PRA, and/or Systems -OR- over 10 years of nuclear systems engineering experience in shipyard environments.
• Experience in Requirements Management using DOORs or similar tools.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
• Comprehensive understanding of plant operations, licensing, design bases, transient and accident analysis.
• Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
