This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.
• Create comprehensive shop drawings, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, and GA (General Arrangement) drawings for structural steel projects.
• Analyze engineering and architectural drawings, specifications, and design documentation.
• Generate precise 3D models and steel detailing packages using industry-standard software.
• Prepare BOMs (Bills of Materials), cutting lists, and material take-offs.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, estimators, and fabrication teams to address design and constructability challenges.
• Examine drawings for adherence to Australian Standards and project specifications.
• Oversee revisions, RFIs, and drawing updates throughout the project's duration.
• Ensure that documentation facilitates efficient fabrication, installation, and project completion.
• Perform quality checks on drafting outputs prior to release.
• Aid in pinpointing opportunities to enhance detailing accuracy, fabrication efficiency, and workflow processes.
• Guide junior draftsmen and offer technical support when necessary.
• Coordinate with Australian stakeholders concerning drawing approvals, technical clarifications, and project needs.
• Over 5 years of experience in structural steel detailing or drafting within mining, industrial, infrastructure, or heavy fabrication sectors.
• Extensive experience in producing fabrication and shop drawings for structural steel projects.
• Proficient in architectural drafting software (e.g., AutoCAD, ArchiCAD, Revit, BIMx); TEKLA Structures must serve as your primary drafting software (non-negotiable).
• Strong understanding of:
• - Structural steel fabrication processes
• - Welding and connection detailing
• - Plate work, pipework, and industrial steel structures
• - Material take-offs and BOM generation
• Ability to read and comprehend engineering and construction drawings. Solid experience with point cloud 3D scanning technology and the capability to create accurate models directly from scan data is essential.
• Experience with Australian construction or fabrication standards.
• Exceptional attention to detail and dedication to drawing accuracy.
• Strong communication and coordination abilities.
• Familiarity with CNC-driven fabrication workflows and steel processing environments.
• Knowledge of fabrication workshops and site installation teams.
• Degree or background in Drafting, Engineering, Structural design, Architecture, or a related field.
