This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• The Senior DevOps Engineer acts as a skilled individual contributor within a team, with an emphasis on enhancing leadership, guidance, and mentoring abilities.
• With minimal supervision from management, you will take charge of achieving scope, schedule, and delivery objectives.
• A Senior DevOps Engineer influences the program's long-term objectives while contributing to the development of the DevOps and software engineering strategy.
• You may act as the primary lead in the discipline when collaborating with stakeholders, employing strong influencing skills to enhance software engineering processes and practices.
• Utilize robust influential skills to collaborate across teams, consolidating and simplifying DevOps tools and services.
• Mentors team members to foster their growth and development.
• May oversee small, less critical, or temporary team structures and projects.
• Responsible for presenting design documents, system diagrams, and more to clients, stakeholders, partners, and fellow engineers.
• Skilled in independently designing cloud infrastructure and pipelines, including evaluating cloud-specific product offerings and balancing cost, reliability, and efficiency.
• Develops libraries, modules, and packages for integration with other infrastructure engineers’ projects.
• Constructs cloud infrastructure that underpins applications and enhances the overall developer experience for engineers.
• Creates CI/CD processes to facilitate the delivery of higher-quality software at an accelerated pace.
• Integrates tools to meet non-functional requirements such as quality thresholds, security vulnerabilities, and static analysis.
• Develops specific application test and deployment pipelines using automated tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, CircleCI, and GitLab CI.
• Proactively collaborates with government partners and app teams to ensure the software delivered meets security, SLA, and performance standards.
• Engages in technical depth interviews with prospective candidates.
• Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of relevant experience (or 7+ years of total relevant experience in lieu of a degree).
• Demonstrated expertise in test development, monitoring/instrumentation, analytics, and optimizing deployment pipelines.
• Proven ability to improve the developer experience by automating release processes and creating modern development tools.
• Hands-on experience in deploying, managing, or migrating applications within AWS or cloud.gov (Preferred).
• Experience with federal compliance frameworks (e.g., FedRAMP, ATO processes) while working alongside government partners (Preferred).
• Familiarity with JavaScript, Node.js, Postgres, and observability tools (Preferred).
