
Senior Data Scientist – VC Backed Startups

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Become a member of SignalFire’s Talent Network to be considered for Senior and Staff Data Scientist roles at VC-backed portfolio startups.
• Leverage data, experimentation, and machine learning to tackle intricate product and business challenges.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and business leaders to pinpoint high-impact data science opportunities.
• Design and evaluate experiments for product modifications, growth initiatives, and operational strategies.
• Create predictive, forecasting, recommendation, ranking, and optimization models.
• Utilize statistical methods and causal inference to assess impact and guide decision-making.
• Develop metrics, analytical frameworks, and dashboards to monitor product and business performance.
• Convert complex analyses into actionable recommendations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Work alongside engineers to deploy models and incorporate data science into customer-facing products.
• Detect patterns within user, customer, operational, and market data.
• Set best practices for experimentation, model evaluation, data quality, and analytical rigor.
• Mentor fellow data scientists and elevate the technical standards of the data organization.
• Contribute to shaping data strategy, tooling, and the long-term analytical roadmap.
• Submit an application for review and potential matching with SignalFire portfolio companies.
• Keep your profile active for future Senior and Staff Data Scientist positions if an immediate match is not found.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in data science, applied statistics, machine learning, decision science, or a related field.
• High proficiency in Python, R, SQL, or similar analytical programming languages.
• Experience with statistical modeling, experimentation, causal inference, forecasting, or predictive analytics.
• Proven track record of utilizing data to influence product strategy, customer outcomes, or business performance.
• Capability to work with large, complex, and imperfect datasets.
• Experience collaborating with product managers, engineers, operators, and executive stakeholders.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to clearly articulate technical findings.
• Experience in developing models or analytical systems that are used in production or operational decision-making.
• Strong judgment regarding methodology, measurement, trade-offs, and uncertainty.
• Experience in venture-backed startups or rapidly growing technology companies may be preferred.
• An advanced degree in statistics, economics, computer science, mathematics, operations research, or a related field may be preferred, but is not mandatory.
