This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop and manage a SQL Server data warehouse along with ETL processes that draw data from enterprise applications and SharePoint.
• Substitute cursor-based SQL Server data cleansing with processing using Python.
• Catalog and document ETL workflows and their interdependencies.
• Design and enhance pipeline orchestration, including management of credentials and secrets.
• Establish source control, dependency management, and reproducible analytical environments.
• Create deployment processes for ETL and analytics code across development, testing, and production environments.
• Conduct statistical analysis, regression, predictive modeling, machine learning, and text analytics.
• Carry out exploratory analysis and implement automated data quality controls.
• Assess model performance and refine analytical methodologies.
• Maintain a technical backlog and prioritize data security and quality remediation efforts.
• Design, build, and sustain Power BI semantic models, reports, dashboards, KPIs, and performance-tracking products.
• Diagnose and resolve performance issues in Power BI.
• Develop custom Python visualizations and high-quality tabular outputs for publication.
• Address rapid data requests from senior leadership and external inquiries.
• Generate technical documentation, system maps, and process flow diagrams.
• Transform ambiguous stakeholder questions into quantifiable analysis.
• Provide consultation on enterprise application data design.
• Present findings and recommendations to non-technical audiences.
• Over 5 years of experience in data science, data engineering, or advanced analytics.
• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or technical field is preferred; equivalent professional experience may be accepted in place of a degree.
• Proficient in advanced SQL with hands-on experience in on-premises Microsoft SQL Server, including performance tuning.
• Strong Python skills for data tasks, including dataframe manipulation, numerical computing, programmatic charting, and SQL Server database connectivity.
• Proven experience in Power BI development, including DAX, Power Query, semantic model design, and performance enhancement.
• Experience in building and maintaining ETL processes using SSIS or similar tools.
• Practical knowledge of regression, classification, time series forecasting, clustering, segmentation, dimensionality reduction, statistical inference, hypothesis testing, and uncertainty quantification.
• Familiarity with version control and Python environment/dependency management.
• Experience in evaluating analytics environments and providing design options with trade-offs, dependencies, and implementation strategies.
• Ability to document work comprehensively and communicate analytical results to non-technical stakeholders.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a VA background investigation and PIV credential.
• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Preferred: experience with Apache Airflow, Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Machine Learning, Power BI CI/CD, advanced visualization, tree-based ensemble methods, text analytics, experiment tracking, collaboration through SharePoint/Power Platform, VA/VHA/federal health IT, or Microsoft PL-300/DP-100 certifications.
