This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +3 more states.
• Address complex challenges in natural language processing, machine learning, and information retrieval, encompassing topical classification, sentiment analysis, entity extraction, and user intent detection.
• Conduct research, create, train, assess, and implement machine learning models employing both traditional and deep learning methodologies.
• Construct robust NLP-based models utilizing extensive news, financial, legal, and business corpora.
• Design and enhance scalable NLP and machine learning workflows.
• Assess cutting-edge algorithms, models, APIs, and open-source resources, including BERT, ELMo, GPT-based models, and similar technologies.
• Convert intricate business requirements into actionable technical narratives with practical estimations.
• Collaborate with product leaders, engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to leverage data science solutions for tangible business challenges.
• Contribute to the establishment of best practices for model development, evaluation, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
• Support and guide junior team members while participating in a small, collaborative team.
• In-depth understanding of machine learning methods, including classification, clustering, recommendation systems, regression, and statistical modeling.
• Practical experience with Python machine learning and data science libraries like scikit-learn, pandas, NumPy, and related tools.
• Familiarity with NLP tools and techniques such as OpenNLP, Stanford NLP, LDA, Gensim, spaCy, or comparable frameworks.
• Expertise in training large-scale models using at least one contemporary deep learning framework like TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, MXNet, Caffe, or Caffe2.
• Experience in creating and deploying cloud-based services, ideally using AWS offerings such as EC2 and Lambda.
• Minimum of 5 years of recent programming experience with Python and/or Java or Scala.
• Proficiency in SQL programming.
• Experience in designing, managing, and analyzing complex data models.
• Acquainted with cloud-based machine learning environments, Spark, visualization and dashboarding tools, Elasticsearch, Solr, and graph databases like JanusGraph or Neptune.
• Strong capability to establish, communicate, implement, and achieve business objectives and aspirations.
• Ability to work efficiently in a small team setting and provide technical leadership or mentorship to junior team members.
• Preferred: experience with large language models and generative AI workflows.
• Preferred: experience in entity extraction, taxonomy management, knowledge graphs, or data enrichment.
• Preferred: experience with large-scale legal, news, financial, business, or professional data.
• Preferred: familiarity with model evaluation, experimentation frameworks, MLOps practices, and production ML monitoring.
