Senior Data Engineer, GCP

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

📋 Description

• Become an integral part of our engineering team, collaborating in a dynamic, autonomous, cross-functional environment.

• Develop and sustain scalable data processing platforms and services on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

• Create and implement event-driven architectures utilizing GCP-native services.

• Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and backend services using Python.

• Assist in infrastructure automation and platform provisioning through Terraform.

• Support containerized workloads operating on Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).

• Establish monitoring, observability, and operational best practices.

• Work closely with product and engineering teams to provide reliable platform capabilities.

• Engage in platform support and operational ownership activities.

• Enhance testing, deployment, and software delivery methodologies.

• Contribute to architectural discussions and the long-term evolution of the platform.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in cloud-native engineering environments.

• Proficient hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

• Familiarity with BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Dataflow, and Cloud Functions.

• Strong background in Python development.

• Experience in building and supporting distributed systems.

• Proficient in Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.

• Understanding of containerized environments and Kubernetes principles.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and contemporary engineering practices.

• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a systems-thinking approach.

• Experience in Agile development environments, especially in a Scrum framework.

• Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Additional skills that are advantageous but not mandatory:

• Experience with GKE.

• Familiarity with Go.

• Experience working with Java.

• Knowledge of Kafka.

• Experience with Grafana, Prometheus, or similar observability tools.

• Experience managing cloud IAM and security controls.

• Experience supporting high-volume data platforms.
