Senior Data Engineer – Athlete

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Construct high-quality data pipelines.

• Create dependable data pipelines utilizing SQL, Python, and Databricks/Spark.

• Enhance and modernize existing pipelines to improve clarity, performance, and maintainability.

• Incorporate tests, documentation, lineage, and observability to bolster trust.

• Model data across various systems.

• Convert intricate, multi-source schemas into clear conceptual and physical models.

• Carefully manage grain alignment, key logic, and clarity of definitions.

• Design scalable models that minimize friction for analysts, product teams, and downstream users.

• Safeguard customer data.

• Implement disciplined data hygiene and privacy-centric practices.

• Securely transfer and store sensitive customer data in accordance with organizational standards.

• Collaborate across the organization.

• Work alongside analysts, product managers, marketing teams, data scientists, vendor teams, and fellow engineers.

• Clearly communicate assumptions, trade-offs, and decision-making processes.

• Clarify ambiguous issues and assist the team in finding the most effective solutions.

• Elevate the team.

• Share knowledge, document effectively, and contribute to enhancing team practices.

• Support colleagues through code reviews, pairing, and collaborative problem-solving.

• Leverage AI-assisted tools to expedite documentation, test generation, and iteration.


⛳️ Requirements

• Preferred: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.

• Experience that equips the job holder to manage most situations and advise others (3 to 6 years).

• Basic experience in coordinating the efforts of others (4 to 6 months).

• Strong foundational knowledge in SQL and Python.

• Familiarity with Databricks/Spark or similar large-scale platforms.

• Clear understanding of data models and transformations.

• Detail-oriented with a disciplined approach to data hygiene.

• Experience with code refactoring, data governance/cataloging, and agile development is advantageous.

• Capability to dissect complex problems and articulate them clearly.

• A curious mindset and eagerness to learn new tools and contexts swiftly.

• Team-oriented attitude — you share insights, collaborate, and uplift others.
